Writing about wine is a notoriously humourless pursuit. Which means few people in the field will have seen this video of Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of South Park. Parker and Stone are presenting to a class of screenwriting students at NYU:

It’s one of the simplest and most effective ways to make any “story” work. And by “story” I mean this Substack, an article about a trip to a wine region, a tasting note, or an Instagram post1.

So how do you apply this to absolutely anything you have to communicate “wine-wise”, as Alan Partridge would put it? You’ll have to subscribe to find out.

But even if you don’t, here’s Alan Partridge at a wine tasting giving himself a panic attack. Wine can be funny. Remember, we just choose not to.
