We find ourselves believing the internet, often in subtle ways. For instance in giving us a general sense of “what wine drinkers look like when they’re drinking wine”. As it turns out, Google isn’t just wrong. It’s wrong in almost every way. Unlike the TV show Gogglebox. Which is correct. In almost every way. And we have hard data to prove it. Hard data you can use today to improve your wine business.

A Google image search is a quick and easy way of getting a sense of what people associate - rightly or wrongly - with a term or an idea. It gives us a sense of what popular culture associates with something like… “people drinking wine” …

And there are some great images. It’s young people. Beautiful people. Out and about. Socialising with their young and beautiful friends. But how close is it to reality?
